21.11.2013 - Speaker: Maurice Hermans

Since 2003, Maurice Hermans develops webplatforms, communities and (social) media strategies for several organizations in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and beyond.


His field of expertise is translating complex communication and information needs into state of the art media applications. Currently, he is the director of the Heerlen based betawerk, an office for webcommunication, content and strategy covering the fields of media, culture, society and economy.
Furthermore, Maurice Hermans is a researcher at Zuyd University for the last five years. In that respect, his research topic is demographic decline and local creative industries. As a board member of the Socialbeta foundation he also established the i_beta/event as well as TEDxEutropolis. Both events focus on new ideas and innovative strategies on economic, cultural and social issues.

At our final conference, Maurice will contribute to the second panel of the day, which deals with the topic of “Across borders. Creating identity – the region as creative hotspot”.
