Egid van Houtem (born in Heerlen in 1982) studied arts and culture specialised on media culture at the University of Maastricht. Today he is director of Social Beta, founder of TEDxEutropolis and curator of the i_beta event in Heerlen.

Social Beta is a foundation that shows the impact and power of digital culture in the context of Heerlen and the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. Among other things, Egid van Houtem published the brochure „Reinvention is not the only option“, the question in this publication is in how far the creative industry plays a role in shrinking cities such as Heerlen.

At the final conference, Egid van Houtem will moderate the second panel discussion of the day, dealing with the topic of "Across country borders. Creating identy - the region as creative hotspot".
